US sues TikTok for alleged COPPA violations

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against TikTok and its parent company, ByteDance, on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission for allegedly violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and a 2019 FTC consent order. Meanwhile, TikTok announced it would be ending its TikTok Lite Rewards program in the EU after making a commitment to the European Commission to end the rewards-based service to comply with the Digital Services Act.
