Reassessing where real-time bidding fits into the risk landscape

The existing real-time bidding infrastructure as a key element underpinning the “free” internet is poised to be upended by the U.S. Department of Justice’s final rule restricting the flow of bulk transfers of sensitive data to six adversarial countries, Senior Data Privacy and Compliance Consultant Mandy Lit, CIPP/C, CIPM, FIP, writes in an op-ed. Lit provides an overview of how RTB works and shares how the DOJ’s rule, which takes effect 8 April, “reframes real-time bidding not only as a privacy issue but as a national security concern.”
