Poland’s data protection authority, the UrzÄ…d Ochrony Danych Osobowych, said a law criminalizing the harmful use of deepfakes is needed. The UODO said deepfakes can cause threats, “including violations of human rights and freedoms on an unprecedented scale.” Additionally, deepfakes can increase national security risks and make up forensic evidence, as well as political manipulation, UODO President MirosÅ‚aw Wróblewski said.
