Euractiv reports the deadlock between European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on the appointment of the European Data Protection Supervisor remains unresolved following an 8 April parallel vote. European Commission Head of International Data Flows and Protections Bruno Gencarelli fell one council vote short of being appointed ahead of former EDPS Wojciech Wiewiórowski. The council and MEPs must renegotiate a new process toward a consensus candidate.
