The European Commission has begun rolling out plans to simplify and update aspects of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. MyData-TRUST Associate Entity Director Victoria Derumier opines the attempt to streamline the GDPR “risks muddying the waters further” and that “Europe needs smart simplification — not symbolic deregulation.” Though the “intention is laudable,” Derumier writes, “the devil, as always, is in the details.”
