In an op-ed for the Word Economic Forum, Continuum Institute President Jake Yu reflected on his organization’s analysis that indicated economic gains from AI adoption “could already be at risk, throttled by governance fragmentation, technical incompatibility and a fundamental deficit of trust.” Yu outlined a potential global AI governance framework as a solution to stagnancy. It would contain definitions for common principles of “safety, transparency and ethical use of AI,” a global system of interoperability across borders and a “standing council” for global cooperation that helps align global priorities.
