Meta to pause AI model release in EU over regulatory concerns

Meta will likely hold off from releasing its upcoming multimodal artificial intelligence model Llama in the EU, Axios reports. A company spokesperson told the publication the model would be released in the “coming months, but not in the EU due to the unpredictable nature of the European regulatory environment,” and said European regulators are taking a longer duration of time to interpret existing laws, compared to other jurisdictions. However, Meta maintains plans to release Llama in the U.K.
