Latest initiatives show potential willingness to simplify EU AI Act

Politico reports on the influences and initiatives signaling the European Commission is willing to amend the AI Act to address perceived burdens. A Commission official said, “Nothing is excluded,” when asked how existing regulations may be revised. Meanwhile, 30 progressive members of European Parliament are calling on the Commission to enact a strict definition of open source AI models that excludes models, such as Meta’s Llama because the company doesn’t share its code for training it.
