ICO releases statement on protecting information during direct marketing

The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office released a joint statement with the Financial Conduct Authority and The Pension Regulator to ensure communication between consumers and pension scheme members remains secure and compliant with data protection regulations. The agencies advised retailers and pension providers to allow consumers the right to opt out of direct marketing, and ensure communication falls within the TPR’s Code of Practice and the FCA’s Consumer Duty guidance.
