Major U.K. retailers and grocery chains sustained cyberattacks that prompted the Information Commissioner’s Office and National Cyber Security Centre to launch joint investigations, Reuters reports. Retailer Marks & Spencer was disabled from accepting online order, and grocery retailer the Co-op Group reported hackers stole customer data. NCSC CEO Richard Horne called the cyberattacks a “wake up call,” while ICO Deputy Commissioner Stephen Bonner, CIPP/E, CIPM, confirmed the joint effort with the NCSC and referred customers to resources to monitor their personal information.
