Garante fines bank for denying employees access to their personal data

Italy’s data protection authority, the Garante, fined a bank 20,000 euros for allegedly denying an employee access to their personal data. The Garante said employees have a right to view their data and do not have to “indicate a reason or a particular need to justify their requests to exercise their rights, nor can the data controller verify the reasons for the request.”
