European Commission to forego GDPR reform, focus on enforcement

The European Commission plans to focus on increased and harmonized EU General Data Protection Regulation enforcement in the coming years rather than potential amendments, Euractiv reports. A Commission spokesperson said a GDPR overhaul will not take place until at least 2028. In the meantime, the Commission is hoping EU lawmakers continue to progress toward passage of the GDPR Enforcement Procedures Regulation, which will ensure more aligned and streamlined enforcement among member states.
