Euronews reports the EU Ombudsman opened a formal inquiry into why the European Commission did not respond to a complaint about the selection of a new European Data Protection Supervisor. The EDPS mandate of Wojciech Wiewiórowski expired December 2024, but he has remained in his role on an interim basis while the Commission and European Parliament negotiate next steps for appointment.
