The European Parliamentary Research Service published one of four briefings examining how to develop frameworks allowing for effective and legal access to personal data by law enforcement. The briefing addresses inconsistent data retention requirements across the EU and how Court of Justice of the European Union decisions have primarily set data retention requirements since the Data Retention Directive was invalidated in 2014.
