France’s data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, issued recommendations for AI developers to establish legitimate interest for data processing under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, following a public consultation. The CNIL’s recommendations are geared toward helping AI developers understand the circumstances when they can use the GDPR’s legitimate interest provisions as a legal basis for processing personal data. Meanwhile, the CNIL published an FAQ guide for using AI in educational settings.
