CMA could force Google to give alternative search engine option

The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority may force Google to change its search engine in the U.K. to give internet users the option of using an alternative service, the Independent reports. Google Senior Director of Competition Oliver Bethell said the potential changes present “clear challenges to critical areas of our business in the UK.” The CMA will hold a consultation process and a final decision is expected by October.
