U.S.-based biotechnology company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will purchase genetic testing company 23andMe and its biometric databases for USD256 million, CNBC reports. With 23andMe’s bankruptcy status, the deal is pending approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. 23andMe Board Chair Mark Jensen said the deal ensures “critical protections around customer privacy, choice and consent with respect to their genetic data.”
