Netherlands’ DPA publishes policy paper on data protection, cybersecurity interplay; UK releases updated cybersecurity toolkit

The Netherlands’ data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, released a policy paper outlining the importance and connection between data protection and cybersecurity. The paper was submitted to a permanent Parliamentary on Digital Affairs hearing on online safety and cybersecurity. The AP labeled data protection as “wrongly playing a minor role” in Parliament’s considerations.
The U.K. National Cyber Security Centre announced additions to its risk management toolkit for practitioners. The updates include an eight-step cybersecurity risk management framework, a refined toolkit concept to cover practices across sectors and all-sized entities, and an introductory risk management and assessment methodology.
