Denmark’s DPA weighs in on federal police’s facial recognition pilot project

Denmark’s data protection agency, Datatilsynet, highlighted concerns that the National Police’s impact assessment for a facial recognition technology pilot project contains unclear limits on what criminal offenses can be used to justify the technology’s involvement in investigations. Datatilsynet stated there should be a legal definition of what crimes may form the basis of use and advised the police be involved in determining specific cases for usage.
