After sharing insights into the professional journeys of six early-, mid- and late-career privacy professionals on LinkedIn, BlueSky Privacy CEO and founder Teresa Troester-Falk, CIPP/US, writes in an op-ed that “privacy careers rarely move in a straight line” and that “clarifying different paths can help.” She said, regardless of the current place a privacy professional may find themselves on their career path, it is useful to not necessarily focus on the organization they desire to work in, but instead, focus on the “primary outcome of the work.” She said the most important privacy work that will serve any organization is making privacy “defensible,” making privacy operations durable and adapting privacy to work within organizational systems.
