The World Economic Forum’s Centre for AI Excellence published a blog detailing the challenges regulators face when trying to implement governance policies without a clear picture of how AI systems are built. The forum released the AI Governance International Evaluation Index to counteract this problem by collecting information from more than 40 countries about how AI policies are evolving around the world. The index is meant to help measure how AI development is occurring, especially as “in many countries, innovation policies are moving faster than legal or ethical guardrails are being established.”
