Lecturer in Competition Law at Universidad Villanueva Alba Ribera MartÃnez wrote for the firm Wolters Kluwer N.V. about the joint guidance from the European Data Protection Board and the European Commission on how the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Digital Markets Act interact. She argued the guidelines are a good first step to harmonization between the two laws but a big hole remains around how to interpret the gatekeeper’s processing activities and the impact on AI in analyzing the GDPR in the DMA.
