Officials from Ireland’s Data Protection Commission entered the offices of a Dublin-based data broker as part of its investigation into the sale of thousands of cellular users’ location data, RTE’s Prime Time reports. The DPC confirmed the investigation and announced it obtained the name of another data broker selling similar location data operating in another EU country and that its data protection authority was assisting with the investigation. Additionally, Prime Time reported the DPC may also pursue the issue with the European Data Protection Board.
