UNICEF, UNESCO and the Global Privacy Assembly collaborated to review education technology’s data protection implications and provided recommendations for organizations to address potential challenges. The recommendations indicated organizations should work to promote safe, secure use of educational tools while enabling safeguards to prevent unnecessary data collection. UNICEF noted data protection authorities “should not shy away from taking enforcement action where needed and imposing fines in the case of serious breaches.”
