In an op-ed for Tech Policy Press, German Member of European Parliament Alexandra Geese urged the EU to remain steadfast in its enforcement of the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act and “not succumb to extortion” via U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of increased tariffs and sanctions. Geese deemed enforcement “essential” to address “systemic risks” posed by platforms’ algorithms.
