OpenAI is lobbying California to adopt AI rules that align with existing national and international frameworks, Euractiv reports. In a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., OpenAI Chief Global Affairs Officer Christopher Lehane recommended the state should treat AI companies as compliant with new rules if they have signed onto the EU AI Act’s Voluntary Code of Practice or if they cooperate with U.S. government AI initiatives, such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Center for AI Standards and Innovation.
