The U.K. High Court dismissed a case brought by the Wikimedia Foundation, operator of Wikipedia, seeking to overturn the potential Category 1 service designation under the Online Safety Act, Reuters reports. If the designation is upheld by the Office of Communications, Wikipedia would be required to verify contributor and user identities. However, the court also indicated Wikipedia can appeal to the Office of Communications if it is ultimately considered a Category 1 service.
