European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs published its impact assessment for proposed civil liability rules under the proposed AI Liability Directive. The latest assessment reviews and critiques the European Commission’s prior impact assessment while recommending a mixed-liability directive for various AI system risks as well as “transitioning from an AI-focused directive to a software liability regulation, to prevent market fragmentation and enhance clarity across the EU.”
